EN - Tania Barrenetxea (Bilbao, Spain) is a visual artist and photographer. Her body of work constitutes an intimate narrative about identity, trauma and desires. From raw vulnerability she works with psychological and symbolic references. As an artist, she is interested in revealing the power of vulnerability in creation. Having developed a wide career as an engineer through the past decade, since 2018 she attends several photography workshops and participates in solo and group exhibitions at places like the Margarita Nelken Cultural Center (Madrid), El Pósito museum (Jaén) or Cosmocaixa (Barcelona). In 2020 she decides to focus herself on her artistic practice and her most intimate photographic work. In 2021 she studies at the Center for Contemporary Photography of Bilbao. In 2022 she is granted to study in the visual arts school La Máquina (Madrid), and is winner in a series of festivals such as Baffest (Spain) or Siena Creative Awards (Italy).
ES - Tania Barrenetxea (Bilbao) es fotógrafa y artista visual. Su cuerpo de trabajo constituye un relato íntimo de exploración. Como artista, le interesa revelar el poder de la vulnerabilidad en la creación. Especialmente, explorando aquellos territorios donde confluyen las heridas, los duelos y la belleza.
Habiendo desarrollado una amplia trayectoria como ingeniera en la ultima década, desde 2018 se forma a través de workshops y participa en exposiciones individuales y colectivas en lugares como el Centro Cultural Margarita Nelken (Madrid), el museo el Pósito (Jaén) o el Centro Cosmocaixa (Barcelona).
En 2020 decide enfocar su práctica artística en su trabajo más intimista y personal. En 2021 se forma en el Centro de Fotografía Contemporánea de Bilbao con artistas como Ricky Dávila, Jon Cazenave o Lurdes R. Basolí. En 2022 recibe la beca en la escuela de artes visuales La Máquina (Madrid) y es ganadora en festivales como Baffest (España) o Siena Creative Awards (Italia).
